Victor Cortes, 47, of Providence, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Lea Regional Hospital, in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was the husband of Veronica (Bolanos) Cortes. Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Ismael Cortes, Sr. and Margarita (Mercado) Cortes, and the step son of Tony Luna. Victor worked in construction for many years. Besides his wife and his parents, he leaves three children, Victor Jesus Cortes, Jr., Krystle Theresa Cortes, and Christian Gerald Cortes; four brothers, Ismael Cortes, Jr., Fernando Cortes, Mario Cortes, and Anthony Cortes; and a sister, Cynthia Cortes. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
