Formerly of North Providence, she was the wife of the late James G. Gambuto; daughter of the late Anthony and Henrietta (DiMeo) DiMartino; mother of Frank J. Gambuto and wife Karen, and Rosemary Notarantonio and husband Raymond Sr.; grandmother of Raymond Jr., John, Michael, and Jason; great-grandmother of Raymond Notarantonio III, Alexa, Sofia, and Nicholas; sister of the late Theresa Bassi, Polly Terino, and Armand DiMartino; sister-in-law of Angela Amodei (the late Lorenzo), the late John (Emily) Gambuto, Etta (Silvio) Antonelli.
She was the owner of the Town and Country House of Charm beauty salon of North Providence where she had many customers who became lifelong friends. After retiring from that business, she and her husband, Jimmy, enjoyed travel and spending time with their family. But not one who liked to be idle, and being such a giving person, she soon became a senior companion at the Fruit Hill Day Services for Elderly. There, as she would tell everyone who asked her, “I help the elderly”; when she herself was in her 80’s.
Vicky was loved dearly by family and friends. She lived her life with grace, joy, and optimism. These traits were observed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as she lived her life. By her example, she taught her family the important values in life. This quote by Helen Keller best exemplifies her spirit: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence, followed by burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fruit Hill Day Services for Elderly, 399 Fruit Hill Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911.
