Vilma (Petrucci) Carnevale, 82, of Johnston, passed away Saturday, June 1. She slipped quietly into the arms of her beloved husband, Frank, for whom she waited nine long years to be reunited. She was the devoted mother to Frank A. Carnevale, and his wife Raelynn, of Johnston and Michael J. Carnevale, and his wife Jennifer, of Woonsocket.
Born in Providence in 1942 in Providence, she was the younger daughter to Alexander Petrucci and Elizabeth (Alice) Iacobbo. She was the sister to the late Corine DeLibero.
In addition to Frank and Michael, Vilma had a special relationship with her nephew Steven DeLibero and her niece Beverly Bernier, whom she loved as her own children. She also leaves behind her grandson, Joseph Bloom, and Darius Curtis, whom she treasured as if he were her own grandson.
Vilma found the most joy and happiness in her role as wife and mother. She was a devoted caregiver and a fierce protector of everyone she loved, including her many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a second mother to her children’s friends throughout their lives, as well.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00am from the Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Rocco Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7PM.
