Vivian was born in Alberta, Canada, a brilliant student who became a teacher at the young age of 20. She met her future husband, S. Sgt. Mario Petrarca, while he was stationed in Alaska and Canada during World War II. Vivian was Mario’s beloved wife for 67 years.
She was a devoted mother and a talented seamstress, who made beautiful clothes for her five children, the late Sharon Jackvony (East Greenwich); Murray Petrarca (North Attleboro); Susan Trabucco (Coventry); Ellen Menna (Cranston) and David Petrarca (Cranston). She was also an avid cook who whipped up family dinners while dressed impeccably in heels.
In addition to her husband and four surviving children, Vivian leaves a sister Inez Sottile (N. Cambria, PA), longtime friend and sister-in-law Alice Evanson (Leduc, Alberta), her nine adoring grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four children-in-law whom she loved dearly: Bernard Jackvony, Sandra (Melikian) Petrarca, John Menna and Paula (Cote) Petrarca.
Vivian also worked as an Assistant Manager at Co-op Credit Union in Cranston, and a receptionist at The Marathon Group in Providence. For many years, she was an active member of Cranston Christian Fellowship.
