Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter and Alice (Cottle) Bass.
Walter was a shipping clerk for Calibri, Inc., formerly Van Dell, for many years before retiring. Walter loved walking the trails with his dog Lilly, driving around town in his car, and playing country music his entire life. He formed “Sam Bass and the Outlaws” a band in which he sang and played guitar many years ago, and he continued to sing and play as a guest singer in many venues throughout the state well into his 80’s.
He leaves his daughter, Valerie (Bass) Catallozzi and her companion Sandy Feld and many close friends.
His visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery, Warwick. For online tributes, visit www.romanofuneralhome.com.
