Johnston William J. 'Billy" Arnold, 58, of Johnston, died Friday, January 30, 2015. He was the husband of Cheryl M. (Webb) Arnold. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Wheaton and Margaret (Ahern) Arnold, Jr. Billy was a machinist for E.G. & G. Sealol for many years. An avid sports fan, especially football and basketball, Billy, "Tiff", as he was also known, played for the Structural Builders in the Flag Football League for many years, and was a standout basketball player at Johnston High School. In addition to his wife Cheryl, he leaves a son Brent A. Arnold; five daughters, Melissa L. Arnold, Suzanne M. Thomas, Shannon M. Arnold, Kathleen E. McInnis and Mary E. Arnold; two brothers, Wheaton Arnold, III and Timothy J. Arnold; two sisters, Kelly A. Rose and Sandra L. Johnston; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 7:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Friday, 5 - 8 pm.
