Obituary of William M. Cook Jr.
William Marshall Cook, Jr., 93, of Cranston, passed away on May 4, 2022 at Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. William was born on November 15, 1928 to William Marshall Alden Cook, Sr. and Rose Alma Sirois in Providence. He worked at International Braid Company, General Insulated Wire and later the City of Providence Parks Department at the Casino at Roger Williams Park, from where he retired. In 1947, William met Aldona P. Yuskevicz while working as a short order cook. They married June 19, 1948 at St. Casimir Church and went on to have four children: William, Michael, Pamela, and Nancy. After retiring in 1991, William spent his time enjoying his favorite activity, bowling, playing in several leagues. He also spent time supporting all his grandchildren’s sports activities including flipping hamburgers with Edgewood Eagles Football. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams the New England Patriots and New York Yankees. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church and most recently a longtime usher and communicant at St. Casimir Church. William was predeceased by his parents William and Rose (Sirois) Cook, step-mother Sarah (Bedrosian) Cook, and sister Donna Foster (Charles). He is survived by his wife of 73 years Aldona, sisters Rita Wood (Sherman), Patricia Young (Alvey), Cora Demers (William), brother Robert Cook (Andrea), sister Elaine Tomasso (Donald), children William Cook III (Kathleen), Michael Cook (Grace), Pamela DiCarlo, and Nancy Silva (John), ten grandchildren Matthew Cook (Melissa), Jennifer Sukys (Robert), Michaela Cook, Nathaniel Cook (Sarah Riedo), Gina Coutu (Ryan), Loreen DiCarlo, John Silva (Jordan), Madeleine Glidden (David), Nicholas DiCarlo (Danielle) and Brandon Silva, thirteen great grandchildren Taylor Sukys, Giana DiCarlo, Tyler Coutu, Amelia Riedo Cook, Landon Cook, Mia Coutu, Blaise Riedo Cook, Claire Reido Cook, Chloe Silva, Ella Gillheeney, Nicholas DiCarlo Jr, Bryce Cook, Dominic Riedo Cook, Mason DiCarlo and Harper Silva, and one great, great grandson Alexander Maldonado. Visitation and funeral will be held Friday 9-10:30 am in the Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Graveside burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. The family would like to recognize the staff at Hope Health Hospice Center for their compassionate care. The family also thanks Dr. Sambandam for his years of friendship, care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
