

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Jennie (Borreca) DeVito; husband of Lorette (Martel) DeVito for 20 years; father of Dorothy Tate and Debora DeVito; grandfather of Nykole Tate; brother of Ralph DeVito and the late Joseph, Rudolph, Louis “Sparky” DeVito, Louise Spiridigliozzi and Gloria Cantagallo.
William was the Vice-President of the Manton Seniors of Johnston, a member of the Johnston Senior Center and a member of the Manton Seniors and the Johnston Senior Bowling League. He was a teamster for 19 years for the North Penn Trucking Co. and a member of the Teamsters Local 251. Upon retiring, he went to work as a school bus driver for the First Student and Durham Bus Company. He was an avid bocce player and card player.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston, followed by interment in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church Building Fund.
