William Phillip Hanley III

William Phillip Hanley III passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 surrounded by love. His was a life well lived. He was the beloved husband of Marie L. (Kelly) Hanley for forty-six happy years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William P. Hanley Jr. and Mary R. (Dowling) Hanley.

Bill was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy (class of ’69) and Providence College (class of ’73) where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. His successful professional life was as a corporate accountant/controller.

He was a long time member of Warwick Country Club where he served as Golf Chair on the Board of Governors. He was also a member of the New England Senior Golf Association where he served also as a member of the Board of Governors. He volunteered at many Rhode Island PGA golf events. Besides his passion for the game of golf, he and Marie traveled the globe visiting exotic lands and experiencing exciting adventures.

Besides his wife he is survived by his brother-in-law James H. Kelly and his wife Linda; his niece Heather; and nephews Marc, Pascal, and Sean.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectively omitted. Burial will be private.
