

COVENTRY - STONIS, William F., 89, of Kelley Lane, died Thursday at Cedar Crest Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Eva T. (Bartkus) Stonis. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Ildifonas and Frances (Garauskas) Stonis. Mr. Stonis was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years before retiring in 1984. Previously he had worked at the former U.S. Rubber Co. He was a member of the A.P.W. - Local 387. He was a WWII Army veteran, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He is survived by his beloved children, Stanley M. Stonis and Barbara A. Giammasi both of Coventry, and Cynthia M. DeCubellis of Sterling, CT; his sister Valeria Avizinis of Dennellin, FL, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Michael F. Stonis, and the brother of the late Anthony, Albert, and Stanley Stonis, and Eugenia Mazonas. His funeral will be Tuesday at 10am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Casimir Church, 350 Smith St. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Casimir Church, 350 Smith St., Providence, RI 02908 in his memory will be appreciated.
