CoventryJohnson, Woodrow A., 80, of Flat River Road, died Saturday at Haven Health Center, Coventry. He was the husband of Vera A. (Gorelko) Johnson. They had been married for nearly sixty years. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Frederick D. and Elizabeth D. (Young) Johnson, he had lived in Coventry for the past twenty years, previously living in Warwick. Mr. Johnson was an Instrument Mechanic for the United States Government, at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, for twenty six years, and later was a self-employed electrician for many years before retiring in 1975. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Beside his wife Vera, he leaves a daughter; Nancy A. Buco of Coventry, two grandchildren; John A. Buco and Christopher D. Buco, and two great-grandchildren; Christopher D. Buco, II, and Kaylynn Buco. He was the father of the late Susan M. Johnson-Poitras, and brother of the late Frederick D. Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Mary Barry. The funeral and burial will be private. boyleandsonfuneralhome.com
