

Alexander "Al" Rocco, 84, passed away, April 17, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Edward and Lillian Rocco; sister, Mary Alice Rocco; and brother, Edward Rocco, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Rush); children, Susan Rocco-McKeel (Michael), Michael, Alan (Debra); grandchildren, Nicholas, Holly, Seth (Chelsie), Alex, Brandon, 4 step-grandchildren, and niece, Robin Rush.
Alex was born and raised in Canon City (Brookside), amid the uncles he was so close to, Tony, Bill, Alex, and Carl Beltramo. He attended Holy Cross Abbey High School before obtaining his B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado, where he met Shirley who also attended UNC.
Al is an Army veteran having served during peacetime in Korea. He worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation for 33 years, rising to the level of Regional Manager before retiring. He took a few years off from this career to work in partnership with 2 of his uncles, establishing Fremont Paving Company in Canon City.
Always active, he was a skilled woodworker, avid golfer, and Rockies fan. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and cooking, making his own pasta and sausage.
