Amy Carolyn Bissell (nee Bailey) passed away on April 2, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 78. Born in Midland, Texas, she was a devoted wife of 56 years to Wayne Paul Bissell, a loving mother to Elizabeth "Beth" Epps, Terry Bissell, and daughter-in-law Heather Bissell, and a cherished Nana to Justyn "Juno" Epps, Jaxson Epps, and Joshua Epps.
Amy's life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to teaching and volunteering. Described as a role model, a dear friend, and a faithful follower of Christ, Amy's impact on her community was profound. She spent her life teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to children of all ages. She was a lifelong Girl Scout who selflessly served and trained girls and women in Pueblo and beyond. Amy was also recognized by Bonfils Blood Center in Pueblo for donating more than 10 gallons of blood. She was a dedicated member of Broadway and Orman Church of Christ, Pueblo West Church of Christ, and Christ Church-Pueblo West, where she knew everyone, and everyone knew her.
In her professional career, Amy was a teacher at various institutions, including Western Christian College, Odessa Christian School, and a substitute teacher at Natrona County Public Schools. Later, she was a retail sales associate and department manager for Joslin's and Dillard’s Department Stores, where she retired after 26 years of service.
Amy's hobbies included anything related to her church, reading, and world travel, having visited over 30 countries. She loved sewing, crafting, and creating activities for her Bible School classes and Girl Scout troops.
Amy will be dearly missed by her family and friends, including her brother-in-law Vernon Bissell, sister-in-law Judi Bissell, nephews Rick Bailey, Jon Bailey, Adam Bailey, and Jon Bissell, and niece Jennifer Bissell Luis. She was preceded in death by her father Ed Bailey, mother Billie Jean Bailey, and brother Mike Bailey.
A memorial service to celebrate Amy's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Imperial Memorial Gardens Chapel in Pueblo, Colorado, with internment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Amy's name to your favorite charity or Christ Church-Pueblo West.
Amy's legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
