Andrew John Haning Sr was born October 17, 1966, in Pueblo, CO to Olive Jean Crump and Delbert Haning Sr. Andrew, or Andy Sr, fully embraced the cowboy tradition including heavily competing in bull riding and other rodeo events both in high school and after. He
graduated from Central High School before going on to work as a ranch hand on various ranches in the Pueblo area. After several years of ranch work, he then joined his father’s family business, Matt’s Gasoline Pump Repair, for 10+ years that serviced gas stations in Colorado and surrounding states including Arizona and Wyoming. After working for his father’s business, Andy then ventured out to open his own remodeling business in the
Pueblo Area. He also had a love for motorcycles since he was a teenager, which later led him to open a motorcycle shop, A&K Motorcycle, with his wife Karri in 2010 after a bad motorcycle accident in 2009. Following the accident, finding a trusted repair shop for his beloved motorcycle was extremely difficult and, in a spirit that was true to his cowboy nature, saw the opportunity to address this shared problem for his community.
Andy deeply cherished his family and especially his granddaughter Izzy who she fondly referred to as “Papa”. Andy highly enjoyed visits from her granddaughter, especially when she would come to the shop where he could share his love of motorcycles with her or ask him to draw horses with her. Andy and his family, daughter Amanda and son Andy Jr, shared his passion for motorcycles and loved spending time riding motorcycles and going to rallies, often together. Andy was an avid outdoorsman as he enjoyed going camping in addition to being an avid hunter/angler, pastimes he frequently shared with his family. Andy loved taking Izzy fishing and would let her reel in his fish. Sometimes fishing turned into
playing in the water which Izzy loves to do but Andy cherished it just as much. Some of Andy’s fondest memories were family hunting trips and teaching his kids how to play cards after a long day of being in the woods. Andy was a Hunter Education Instructor for Colorado Parks and Wildlife and taught alongside his wife and daughter.
Andy was also well known and loved in the biker community with the shop often becoming a frequent stop for business or casual conversation. People enjoyed going into the shop and just talking to Andy, sometimes for hours, even if they weren’t getting their bike worked on. He enjoyed going to local runs and other events including “Bike Nights”. Through sharing his love of motorcycles with his family, his daughter Amanda developed a passion for motorcycle drag racing, which he was religious about supporting and encouraging her. Andy was extremely proud of his daughter’s achievement of being able to race at the famed Bandimere Speedway with top-tier racers from around the country and would frequently boast his daughter’s achievement in the life stories he told.
Tragically, Andy lost his wife Karri suddenly to Pancreatic Cancer on March 25, 2025, four months before he joined her and the Lord on July 29, 2025. He is preceded in death by his mother Olive Jean Schrum, his father Delbert Haning, and his brother Delbert Haning Jr. He is survived by his daughter Amanda Mares, son Andy Haning Jr, son-in-law Tyrell “Ty” Mares, and granddaughter Isabel “Izzy” Mares. He is also survived by sister Amy Haning, Debbie (Rob) Gill, sister-in-law Becky Haning, nephew Nicholas Haning, and nieces Julie (Brent) Firkins, Kristie (Matt) Gettler, and Megan (Devin) Hart.
