Arthur Munoz Urbina

Arthur Munoz Urbina (Art) passed away at home on August 31st, 2026. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on September 16, 1927, to Alberto and Francis Urbina. He was proceeded in death by his siblings, Robert Urbina, John Urbina, Celia Gyorkos and Lydia Griego; his beloved wife, Mary Veronica Urbina; and his son, Arthur Vincent Urbina. He is survived by his sons, Christopher Urbina (Mary Beth) and James Urbina (Valerie); his six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

During his lifetime, Arthur was a generous, hardworking man committed to his family, his community, and his Catholic faith. He attended Bessemer grade school, Keating middle school, and one year at Central High School. He later received his GED and an honorary high school degree in 2007.

In 1943, Art went to work at the CF&I Steel Mill until he was drafted into the army in 1945. After basic training in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, he reenlisted for eighteen months where he participated in airborne and glider training and became a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Then in 1949, Art joined the naval reserve in Pueblo, Colorado, where he served until 1979. All told, he dedicated over thirty-two amazing years to his country.

After military service, he again worked at CF&I until 1956. In 1957, he joined the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as an award-winning mail carrier until retirement in 1987. He knew almost everyone on his route, and it was common for people to recognize Art as their beloved mailman.

Arthur married the love of his life, Mary Veronica Arguello, on May 21, 1949, and raised three successful children. As their family grew, they took many fishing and camping trips to local rivers, lakes, and mountain communities. Family was always very important to Art, and he especially enjoyed visiting his sons and grandchildren.

Serving the community was always Art’s passion. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish and Knights of Columbus for twenty-nine years, achieving Grand Knight twice. Prior to St. Joseph’s, he was an active member of the Assumption Parish for many years. Even after his wife’s passing in 2013, he continued to be active at Brookdale, his new residence, serving as an resident ambassador. He also continued enjoying life through bingo, card games, and visits from his sons and other family members.

Arthur left an indelible mark on all to have known him. We will miss his sense of humor and smile, and he will forever be remembered for the caring compassion he had for his friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on September 16, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass will begin at 10:00 a. m. There will be a catered reception immediately following at St. Joseph’s Hall. All are welcome to celebrate with his family.

Interment will be held at Imperial Garden’s at 3 pm.
