Aurora Porfidia Roybal

My mom was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, the only girl of 5 children. She moved to Monte Vista with her parents and lived on a farm until she met and married our father, the father of her 9 children. She married Gerardo Martinez at the age of 14. They were married for 20 years before divorcing. She worked various jobs to support us all and did the best she could to raise us all. She then met and married Richard Natividad and was married for 23 years until his death in 1994. By this time we, her children, spent as much time with her as we could since we were all grown and living our own lives and having our own children. Mom now has 25 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

She was always our "go to" for any problems we may have had and gave us good advice, taught us right from wrong, she showed us girls how to be respectful women, showed her sons how to be loving gentlemen. She cared and loved all of us.

Mom was very social and enjoyed many things in her life. Especially dancing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.

It was at a dance in 2012 that she met Ernest Roybal and fell in love again. She was so happy to have found someone to love and spend her final years with. They married in 2013 and had 8 short but wonderful years together until his passing in January 2021. She was so happy with Ernie and his wonderful children and thought of them as her own. They were so very good to her and she appreciated them so much.

Mom also had much sorrow in her life, as well. Especially when she suffered the loss of two of her sons. Patrick in December, 2017 and Paul in January, 2021.

With the passing of Ernie and then Paul in the same month, it seemed too much for her to bear.

She was always so strong and she taught us to be strong as well. We are all going to miss her and we will always cherish our memories of her.
