Belinda was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Legions of Mary. She never missed a Sunday Mass and loved to sing and often join the choir during the Christmas season. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. Her favorite saying was “God Willing”. In Spanish she would say “Dios Primero”. She loved to read in her spare time and meditate on her prayers.
She was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She would often help us with our studies no matter how tired she was after a long hard day. She never left anything undone and we would always pray the rosary at night as a family. She was always there to lend a caring shoulder and give great advice to her children and grandchildren. How we loved to gather on her birthday. We would have a grand celebration in her honor. Her home was filled with family, dancing, singing, live mariachi music, and of course lots and lots of food.
She use to tell us stories, of her younger years, about going to dances with our daddy no matter if the weather was nice or if they had to trudge through three feet of snow to get there. You always knew she was having a good day when you asked her “How are you doing today?” and she would reply “Chewing gum and eating candy” with a chuckle.
She enjoyed baking pastries such as doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, pies, cookies, bread, tortillas, and empanaditas. She also enjoyed making her own jams and jellies and pickling cucumbers. She was an avid flower gardener and meticulous house keeper.
Her home was always a welcomed place for family, friends, and whoever happened to visit or stop by. She was always the first to greet you with a warm embrace and always gave a loving blessing when you departed and would often stand at her porch while waving goodbye.
How do you say goodbye to the most wonderful loving Mother and Grandmother? She was the Matriarch of our family. We will miss her so very much. She was the heart and the rock.
She built a foundation of faith and love that we will carry forever in our hearts for the rest of our lives. We love you Mother/Grandma. Thank you for everything you ever did for each and every one of us. The memories we hold dear to our hearts will never fade. We love you, God Bless You, and may you rest in Gods everlasting Peace.
Survived by daughters, Beverly Lopez (Michael), Florence Valdez-Lucero (Martin), MaryAnn Valdez-Fuentes, Marie Gorgei (Garry), and Pauline Rincon (Dennis), daughter in law Louise Valdez, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
