Betty Mathews

Betty L. Gust Mathews, 89, born on April 30, 1924 in Telluride, CO and passed away August 23, 2013 in Pueblo, CO. Survived by her children, Marybeth Thompson, Austin, TX, Paula (Jack) Quinn, Pueblo and John R. (Cynthia) Gust, Jr., Pueblo; grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Griego, Pueblo, John Gust III, Riverside, CA, Samantha (Pete) Hernandez, Pueblo, Scott (Megan) Gust, Denver, Kari (Cale) Purvis, Beulah, Courtney Gust, Waikoloa, HI and Hannah Gust, Pueblo; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brady and Lucas Griego, Bailey and Emersen Hernandez, Caleb, Chloe and Colton Purvis and sister, Marilyn Miller. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Bess Jensen; former husband, John R. Gust, Sr.; son, William L. Gust; brothers, William Johnson and Robert “Jack” Jensen. Betty retired from the banking industry after 47 years. She spent most of her career at Park National Bank and American Federal Savings where she was Vice President. She served on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seal Society and was a founding member of The Impossible Players. At her request no viewing. Memorial Service 2 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2013 at George McCarthy Historical Chapel.
