Betty Jean Stefanich

Pueblo native, Betty Jean Stefanich, 88, passed away quietly on November 2, 2018. Betty was the only child of Roland and Lois Williams. After the death of her father, Betty was adopted by her step-father Vern Watkins in 1942. Betty married William Stefanich in 1949 and together they had five children. Their partnership in life lasted nearly 60 years. Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She committed her life to her family and being a homemaker. Betty made their house a “home” as her husband supported the family. She raised their children and touched the lives of their grand-children and neighbors by love and kindness. She kept the house running, open and welcoming to numerous family celebrations over the years. Betty was preceded in death by her husband and survived by her children, Judith (Bill) Watson of Decatur Alabama, Linda McMurtry of Richardson Texas, William Stefanich Jr. of Pueblo, Elizabeth Gasperetti of Pueblo, and Michael (Patty) Stefanich of Castle Pines Colorado, nine grand-children, thirteen great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Betty had a lifelong love of animals especially her dog, Pee-Wee and cat Ralph. She will be fondly remembered for the chicken dance at her grand-children’s weddings. A mass and celebration of her life will be held at Holy Family church on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
