

Bidal “Billy” Sotello, went to be with our Lord, July 25, 2012. Known to family and friends as Billy. He was born August 27, 1953 in Lubbock Texas to the union of Augustin C. Sotelo and Amada T. Sotelo. But he grew up in Ogden, Utah. Billy is survived by the mother of his children and lifetime friend, Ernestine Benevidez; sons, Benjamin (Stephanie) Sotello, Dallas Sotello and Jason Lewis of Ogden, Utah; 8 grandchildren; siblings, Consuelo Ramirez, Augustina Sotelo, Augustin Sotelo, Jr., Yolanda (Juan) Diaz, San Juana “Janie” Sotelo, Moses (Julie) Sotelo, Ernestina “Tina” Sotelo-Lobato, Ponciano “Ponce” Sotelo, and Marie Christina (Jesus) Gonzales, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Augustin C. and Amada T. Sotelo, brother Eugene “Gino” Sotelo, sisters, Eloisa Zuniga-Sotelo and Adelina Quiroz. Billy enjoyed life to the fullest by spending time with his sons, and grandchildren. He was a very accomplished talented musician taught by his father and a unique guitarist with his own style. He enjoyed playing with numerous groups and cherished the music played with his brothers “Sotelo Brothers” and later changed the name to “Grupo Sotelo”. Billy loved the style of Cumbias and always looked towards his brother Moses telling him, hey bro check out this grupo. Billy was an inspiration to the Pueblo Community through his music, and was inducted to the Pueblo Music Hall of Fame in November 2001.Billy passed on his legacy of music to his sons Ben and Dallas and other musicians. Other accomplishments to mention Billy gained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Southern College in Sociology. Billy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a tribal member of the Texas Band of Yaqui Indians. Billy will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him including his dogs, Peaches, Jefe, and Achilles.
