

Carl M. Vining Jr. passed away on July 17th, 2012 at 5:00am at his long time Pueblo West home. Carl was born to Carl and Mabel Vining in Wheaton Illinois in 1927, and married Joy Robinson on April 30th 1948 in the College Church of Christ. Carl was a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Illinois until 1957 when he transferred to Pueblo, Colorado, where he worked until he retired. Carl was a member of the Colorado Mountain Club and climbed 34 of the 54 14,000 foot peaks in the state with his wife and two sons. He and his wife Joy loved to square dance and were members of the Prairie Dusters square dancing club and he was instrumental in the construction of the Red Barn in La Vista hills. He had a deep love for travel and made several trips to Europe and Alaska as well as many cruises all over the world. Carl also had a passion for trains and railroads and on many occasions he made special trips around the globe to see rare locomotives. Carl and Joy have two sons, Steve (Deb) and Bruce (Penny), five grandchildren; Brian(Katie), Chris, Meghan (Greg), Mallory, and Morgan, and one great-grandchild, Lorelei, all of whom loved him dearly and will miss his wisdom, humor and guidance in the years to come.
