It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom and grandma, Isabel Chavez, on February 19, 2022 in the loving presence of her family. She was born on May 14, 1933 in Valdez, Co to Frances and Moses Sena, she was the youngest of seven siblings. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ernie, Al and Tony, and Sisters Margaret Montoya and Grace Barela. Her sister Doris Huff of New York survives her. In 1952, she married the love of her life Ernie Chavez, a romance that would last for over 62 years until his passing in December of 2013. She also was preceded in death by her two beautiful daughters Tina Glampe, and Kathleen Bonny Chavez. She is survived by her children, Pat Padilla of Los Angeles, CA, her son Sam Chavez and wife Laurie of Pueblo, her daughter Angela Sandoval and husband Jack of Pueblo, son Ralph Chavez and wife Kathy of Rhinelander, WI, and son Paul Chavez and wife Rhonda of Pueblo. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren with two more to join the family in the near future. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Our mom was a very generous woman, always willing to do anything for anybody at any time, she made sure we always had what we wanted, necessity or not. She loved crafting with her grandchildren; when one of her grandsons started kindergarten his teacher remarked that he could do more with a pair of scissors and a bottle of glue than any five year old she had ever taught; and that was thanks to grandma. We will always remember our mom and dad early every morning siting in the kitchen at the table, doing the daily crossword puzzle, drinking their coffee and reading the newspaper to start their day. Heaven forbid if the newspaper was late; it would throw the whole day off. Many conversations were shared at that round kitchen table. We want to acknowledge the wonderful care she received from Dr. Rajeev Kanducurri and his nurses; the staff at University Park Care Center and the staff at Sangre De Cristo Hospice. The full circle of our mom’s life always comes back to the love she had for her family and the love we have for her. We are inviting those who knew and loved her to join us for a celebration of life at St Mary’s Catholic Church February 25, 2022 at 2pm. Visitation at T.G McCarthy Funeral Home February 24, 2022 at 3pm, and Rosary to follow at 5pm. We will always love and miss you mom.
