

Carol was born May 5, 1939 in Sorento, IL, the daughter of Orville (Pete) and Carolyn Young. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1957. She married Charles Pace on September 5, 1958 in Perryville, MO. They had one daughter, Shirley Jo Stice. She married Ivan Gray on July 23, 1976 in Pueblo, CO and had a daughter, Billie Rae Gray.
Carol worked various jobs throughout her life, but her favorites were telephone operator, CNA, and psychiatric technician at Parkview Hospital. She most recently worked for Pueblo Community Resources as an arts and crafts assistant, a job she thoroughly loved. She attended New Heights Baptist Church, where she served on the Hostess Committee and attended various Bible studies. She enjoyed sewing in all forms, canning, arts and crafts, reading, camping, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed challenging her mind with new quilt patterns and Sudoku. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, as well as great strength, humor, and generosity.
Carol is survived by “her girls”: Shirley Jo (Ken) Stice of Pueblo, CO, and Virginia (Gary) Cortese of Avondale, CO; three grandchildren: Shane (Jennie) Ellison, Josh (Rachel) Ellison, and Jacob (Thayna) Stice; six great grandchildren: Charlotte, William, Maura, Abilene, and Eva, and one on the way; her sister Sheryl (Harold) Collier; her brother Eldon (Sharon) Young; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as Ivan’s children, step-children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan Gray on July 21, 2009 and daughter Billie Rae Gray, January, 6, 2002.
