Carroll Sutton, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on August 26, 1939, in the small town of Lamar, Colorado, Carroll was the cherished son of Vernon and Dorothy Sutton.
Carroll, a devout Christian, was a man who embodied reliability and kindness. He graduated from Boone High School in 1957, laying the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. For over 30 years, Carroll worked as a lineman at CF&I Steel Mill, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and the community alike.
In his personal life, Carroll was blessed with a loving family. He married his first wife, Arlene, on November 6, 1960, and they shared 46 beautiful years together until her passing. Carroll later found love again with Dixie, whose memory he cherished deeply. He is survived by his devoted children, James, David, and Janice, as well as his brother Bill and sister Verra. Carroll's legacy continues through his five grandchildren—Justin, Jason, Renee, Nicole, and Benjamin—along with his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
A man of varied interests, Carroll found solace and joy in his hobbies. He was an avid gardener, cultivating over 165 rose bushes at one time, a testament to his patience and attention to detail. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of card games with friends, the thrill of hunting with his father, and the adventures of 4-wheeling and fishing with his brother and sister. Carroll had a keen eye for photography, capturing the beauty of the world around him, and he cherished traveling and watching his grandchildren's ball games.
Carroll was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, where his kindness and generosity touched many lives. He also influenced many young men in his work with the Boy Scouts of America. Known for his dependability, Carroll was always early and ever willing to lend a helping hand, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
He was predeceased by his first wife Arlene, his second wife Dixie, and his parents, Vernon and Dorothy. Though he is no longer with us, Carroll's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Carroll will be placed alongside his wife Arlene at Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5450 CO-78, Pueblo, CO 81005 on July 24th at 11am.
