

Catherine Magdalene (McDonald) Nelson, 105, born in Pueblo, CO, passed away April 10, 2011. A 1924 graduate from Centennial High School and a lifelong resident of Pueblo, CO. During her life she read the headline of the sinking of the Titanic, witnessed the Pueblo flood of 1921, the economic depression of the 30’s, WW II, and coming of a new millennium. She was an extraordinary woman, and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was loved by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie O. Nelson; daughter, Frances; son, Leslie W. Nelson; parents, Donald J. McDonald and Mary Catherine ( McElroy) McDonald Despain; sister, Jessie (Ashmore) Crews; brothers, Jimmy Ashmore, Donald McDonald and William McDonald. Survived by son, Floyd Nelson; and daughters, Helen (Melvyn) Anzick and Barbara (Bruce) Merritt; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Darrel (Pat) McDonald; nieces, Marjorie (Clement) Hausman, June Manley; and other nephews and nieces. Services to be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home.
