

Charles T Gaunt I, was born on May 21, 1938 and passed away on August 14, 2010 in Cañon City, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Coletta Gaunt, daughter Lynn Rapp (John) of Ohio, son Rod Gaunt (Pam) of Cañon City, son James Gaunt (Rae) of Florence; 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Additional family included 1- ½ brother, 1 sister, and 4 - ½ sisters. All of his siblings preceded him in death except for 1- ½ sister. Charles, better know as Charlie, was married to Coletta for almost 55 years. They were married in front of a bay window at her family homestead. They were fortunate enough to renew their wedding vows at that same location for their 25th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the Lyons Club, Moose Lodge, Shepherd Of The Hills Lutheran Church, and Independent Order of Foresters. He worked in construction doing excavating for 35 years; the oil field and the steel company. He was an artist on the drag line. In 1978 he was diagnosed with cancer and went on to beat it. He was active in square dancing for 36 years. While square dancing he traveled not only locally but nationally to many different clubs and conventions. Being a Hall of Fame member in 2 council areas of Colorado and the bulletin editor for 13 years, both Charlie and Coletta held many offices while members. He enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout his life, catching some record breaking fish and moved to Cañon City to retire. He enjoyed RV camping and travelling for many years until he was no longer able to handle the RV. One of his favorite nights of the week was “family night” when he was able to eat with his family and play cards. He was a very proud father, Grandfather and great Grandfather known as “Pa”. A memorial will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Shepherd of the Hills Church located at 801 N Sheridan Ave, Cañon City at 11am. A viewing will be held at Imperial Funeral Home located at 5450 Hwy 78 (Northern Ave.) in Pueblo from 4-7 pm Wed. Aug. 18th. There will also be a viewing in the Denver area on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Crown Hill Chapel located at 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge from 10am – 12pm. The funeral service will be at the same location at 12pm with the burial to follow.
