Darlene Yvonne Pope, 68, was born August 26, 1946 in Pueblo, Colorado and died peacefully January 19, 2015, under the care of Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Pueblo. Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Walter “Buster” Smith; Aunt Ada and Uncle G.C. Pool; Aunt Vivian and Uncle Harold Garber. She is survived by her mother, Vada Smith; sons, Jon Pope and Shane (Kara) Pope; three grandchildren, Jack, Kinsley and Max; brother, Clint (Anita) Smith; nephews, Michael and Lonnie; Aunt Lillian Sturdevant. Also survived by numerous cousins. After graduating South High School in Pueblo, Darlene attended Business School prior to moving to Fairbanks, Alaska. Blessed with a gifted and adventurous spirit, Darlene continued to practice her gracious gift towards others upon returning to Pueblo where she has resided since 1978. Known for always having a welcoming home, Darlene was known in her neighborhood to be one of the kindest person’s one could ever come to know. She enjoyed collecting state plates, as well as looking at pictures of her grandchildren. A Memorial Service will he held for Darlene in early summer. In lieu of food and flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Sangre de Cristo Hospice. Arrangements will be made known publicly close to service time.
