Dave was born August 3, 1948 in Pueblo to Bruce & Dorothy “Pat” Haughey. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara; and friend, Timmy Babich. He is survived by siblings, Roger (Siripan), Jeanne (Don) Palumbo, and Karen (Trenton) Creed; nephews, Bryan, Michael, and Justin; nieces, Karen, Kati, and Jessi; numerous other relatives and best friend, C. Michael Hausman.
Dave graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School, class of 1966. After graduation, he attended SCSC where he majored in Mass Communications. Dave's education was followed by a tour of duty in Viet Nam with the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Buchanan where he earned a commendation for outstanding competence and leadership during combat operations. After his military service, Dave was a staff photographer for the Pueblo Chieftain and Cañon City Daily Record for several years. Dave’s love for photography turned into a small business known as D & J Photography. Later in his life, Dave also worked for several years as an interpreter at Bent’s Old Fort. He spent his retirement as an avid fan of the Broncos and Rockies.
Following Dave's memorial service, military honors will be conducted at 3:30 pm by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team at the Vietnam War Memorial at W 26th St & Elizabeth St. The family would love to visit afterward back at the Chapel.
