Diane was called home to Glory on Tuesday March 21. She passed away peacefully at Sharmar Care Center following 89 years of life spreading love and joy, 63 of them here in Pueblo. She grew up in Denver with her mother, Joan Warner (Claude Beidler), in the home of her uncle Bertram Warmer and his wife Edythe. She graduated from East High School and attended Colorado Teachers’ College in Greeley, where she met and later married Richard Lee Graham (deceased).
She is survived by the eldest of two sons, Alan Lewis (Susan) Graham, and two grandchildren Joshua Alan Graham and Kirsten Leigh Pape (Chris), and a great-grandson Andrew Pape. She was preceded in death by her younger son, Steven Lee Graham. Although the family was small, much time and many adventures, filled with love and laughter, were undertaken. Even later in life when single, she often travelled with friends, regularly visiting her family in far-flung locales.
Central to Diane’s life was her love for children and the profession of her calling as an educator. While she invested herself in curriculum and school improvement projects and graduate degrees, she found her greatest joy in the classroom, instructing children in Pueblo elementary schools for over forty years. She was a mentor and a counsellor, and a loving and faithful friend.
She had a deep and abiding walk with the Lord; visibly in service at First Presbyterian Church in many capacities, and personally in her search for truths of the great mysteries of the Christian Faith.
According to Diane's wishes, the family will scatter her ashes at the Oregon Coast later this year.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.tgmccarthy.com for the Graham family.
