Dickie Dale “Dick” Tracy, 88, of Pueblo West, Colorado, passed away on November 10, 2025, at the Sangre de Cristo Community Care Center.
Dick was born on July 4, 1937, to Arthur Tracy and Kittie K. (Taylor) Tracy in Ramah, Colorado. Dick graduated from Ramah High School.
Dick worked various jobs during his lifetime. One of his earlier jobs was working at the CF&I Steel Mill in Pueblo. He would ride the trains that carried coal for the steel mill. He eventually started working for the Pueblo Star Journal and The Pueblo Chieftain. He filled several roles throughout his time at the Chieftain. For many years he distributed the newspaper to Trinidad, Salida, and other cities in southeastern Colorado. Later on in life he served as a district manager for the Chieftain and oversaw paper routes in the city. Let’s just say that Dick knew how to throw a paper.
Dick also worked for Lady Fair Laundry and National Pride Car Wash, where he served as a jack-of-all-trades, repairing and maintaining the workings of these two businesses. He made a dramatic change in occupation when he moved to Odessa, Texas, and became the youth minister at the Terrace Hills Church of Christ. During that time he was also a hotshot driver, delivering equipment to the oilfield rigs. He also owned a restaurant while living in Odessa. Upon his return to Pueblo he worked at Rush’s Pueblo Lumber until his retirement. Dad loved his work at Rush’s Lumber, especially because he got to buy the newest and best power tools. He always had to have the latest and greatest when it came to power tools.
In 1958 Dick married Phyllis Lee Cable at the Broadway Church of Christ in Pueblo Colorado. They had four children: Bill, Glenda, Regina, and Patty. In 1981 he married Joanne Blasdel, and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Joanne was such a tremendous blessing to Dick in his final years, and she devoted herself to his care.
Dick loved people, and that was reflected in where he spent his energy and time. He served on the Board of Directors for Red Mountain Youth Camp, and in his later years he was an SRDA Foster Grandparent at Pueblo West Christian Academy. In this volunteer role he would sit and listen to the kids read to him. His care for people also extended to his service as an elder at the Cowboy Church in Pueblo, Colorado, and at Christ Church of Pueblo West.
If you knew Dick, you knew he loved to tease people. Not only did he love teasing people, he also loved being teased. Dick was a talented man and loved to work with his hands. He loved woodworking and spent many an hour out in his shop. He also picked up making stained glass and made beautiful pieces.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Kittie Tracy; his siblings and their spouses, Dean and Vernis Tracy and Paulita and Tony Timora; his brothers-in-law, Gary Smith and James E. Hennis; and his sister-in-law, Lavina Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Tracy, of Pueblo, Colorado; his children and their spouses, Bill and Betty Tracy of Lubbock, Texas; Glen and Glenda David of El Dorado, Arkansas; Darrell and Regina Miles of Cary, North Carolina; Rob and Patty Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kendall and Rhonda Poland of Sublette, Kansas; and Jeff and Jacquie Blasdel of Aurora, Colorado. Dick had 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Christ Church on Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales, New Mexico, or Sangre de Cristo Community Care in Pueblo, Colorado.
