Dolores Jean Sisneros

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Onesimo and Viola Martinez; her beloved sister, Connie Garcia; her father- and mother-in-law, Leo and Victoria Sisneros; sisters-in-law Loretta Palumbo and Bernadette Martinez; brother-in-law Kenny Martinez; and her goddaughter, Kendra Martinez.

She is survived by the love of her life of 47 years, Rocky Sisneros; her sister, Ernestine Martinez, with whom she shared a very special bond; her sisters Janet Cruise (Sunny), Geraldine Martinez, and Cynthia Williamson; and her children, Leo Sisneros and Jenelle Connolly-Weed (Kenny), who were always her pride and joy.

Dolly was a devoted grandmother to her “little sweethearts,” Presley Jo, Kinsey Jean, and Brayleigh Beth, as well as her bonus step-grandchildren, Cole and Hayden. She is also survived by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lorainne Aldridge (John) and Carl Palumbo (Danette), along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Dolly proudly served three years in the United States Army as a social worker in formal in-service training. Her character of service was honorable, and she was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. She went on to dedicate the rest of her career to helping others as a Disabled Veterans Outreach representative at the employment office. She retired in 2005.

Dolly met the love of her life, Rocky, at Gino’s Lounge, where she was bartending. What began there became a 47-year love story. Hand in hand, they always held each other up. Dolly always had her Rocky, and Rocky always had his Dolly. Together, they lived life to the fullest.

They traveled, laughed, camped, celebrated, and made memories wherever they went. No matter the destination, they could always find a casino. They even had their favorite slot machines, including Dolly’s most recent favorites, the Gorilla slots in Reno and Cripple Creek. They would each take a pull and split the winnings. She will always be Rocky’s “Lucky 18 from heaven.”

Dolly and Rocky were blessed with two children, Leo and Jenelle. As a loving and supportive mother, Dolly was their biggest fan. She never missed a sporting event, dance performance, or cheer competition. She created special memorabilia and treasured gifts that her family will cherish forever.

Dolly and Leo shared countless adventures together in the beautiful Colorado mountains. They spent many memorable days camping, riding in the side-by-side, and taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Colorado landscape they both loved so dearly.

Leo and Presley were also a special part of Dolly’s joy and her obsession with creating and building new LEGO sets, adding to the collection she loved so much. These moments—filled with adventure, creativity, laughter, and love—will forever be cherished memories of Dolly and the people and passions that brought her so much happiness.

Dolly and Jenelle were not only mother and daughter, but best friends who shared a love for laughter, crafting, adventure, and spending time together. Shopping was one of their favorite pastimes— “we shopped until we dropped” was truly their way of life. Dolly helped make Jenelle the great bargain shopper she is today, but more importantly, she gave her a lifetime of memories, love, and a bond that will never be forgotten.

Becoming a grandmother was one of Dolly’s greatest joys. When her first granddaughter, Presley, was born, all of Grandma Dolly’s dreams came true. Presley loved camping, crafting, and having picnics with Grandma. Grandma Dolly and Papa Rocky welcomed Kinsey and Brayleigh into the world in Arizona with open arms and loving hearts, Grandma Dolly was there for all the BIG moments.

Kinsey loved crafting with Grandma, and most recently they shared a love of bedazzling. They even sent each other rubber ducks they had bedazzled for one another. Brayleigh loved playing card games and Left Right Center with Grandma, who happily taught her about playing with money. In Grandma Dolly’s purse, she still carried two lucky $1 bills that Brayleigh had given her from her winnings.

Grandma Dolly and Papa Rocky created countless memories with their grandchildren through traveling, shopping, crafting, playing, and laughing. Dolly lovingly called them “my three little sweethearts.” Without a doubt, they will carry her love and her legacy with them always.

Dolly and Rocky were also blessed with lifelong friendships. Together, they traveled to beautiful destinations and made memories with people they loved. They especially enjoyed camping in the beautiful Colorado mountains, with Lake Monument holding a special place in Dolly’s heart. Mornings were often made better with one of Dolly’s famous Bloody Marys. Their home was a place of gathering and celebration, filled with laughter, friendship, Dolly’s delicious green chili, and a Ruby Red Slipper or two.

Dolly was incredibly talented and could make just about anything. She was gifted in beadwork, sewing—a talent she inherited from her mother—stained glass, doll making, card making, and so much more. Her creativity was a gift she freely shared with others. She would sometimes run into people she hadn’t seen in years, only to be reminded that they still had a Christmas spider she had made for them. Her creations became lasting reminders of the love she put into everything she did.

Scrapbooking held a particularly special place in Dolly’s heart. She cherished the time she spent with her scrapbooking group, sometimes spending entire days creating and preserving memories together. She loved being surrounded by people who shared her passion. Through her crafts and creations, Dolly brought her special sparkle into the homes and lives of so many people.

Her smile, loving heart, generosity, and extraordinary talent touched everyone who knew her. She had a way of making ordinary moments special and turning memories into treasures.

Dolly loved sunsets, mountain views, family adventures, good friends, a great bargain, a good craft, and—most of all—the people she loved. Her life was filled with love, laughter, creativity, adventure, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Our hearts will never be the same without her. We will carry her love, her laughter, her creativity, and the “Dolly way” with us always. Her sparkle will live on in every handmade treasure, every sunset, every mountain view, every lucky $1 bill, and every memory she helped create.

We love you with our whole hearts and MORE, Dolly.
