As a young woman Dora’s first job was in a local ice cream shop then soon after that she went to work at St. Mary Corwin hospital as a nurse aide but her true life’s work and passion was creating a wonderful homelife for her husband and children. She also was an essential part of the family business- Ben Molina Fence Company.
Dora loved to read romance novels but eventually moved on to the likes of Stephen King and Dean Koontz. She also had a love for movies. She loved all genres but her favorite, surprisingly, was horror! She often spoke of her love for dancing. Whether it was at a wedding, New Year’s Eve celebration or back in the day at the beloved Arcadia Ballroom, you would find her on the dance floor. She also loved to sing, even just doing chores around the house. She was a wonderful cook and often spoke about her days as a young girl at home cooking meals for the whole family. Dora loved having big family dinners for every occasion or even just because. She enjoyed decorating for every holiday, because she always wanted to create a festive environment for her grandchildren. It was Dora’s joy to take the whole family on vacation even if it was just to Denver for the weekend, everyone was invited. Dora also loved spending time with her sister Ann. They’d go for coffee, shopping together, long car rides or just chat on the phone, one way or another they were in touch with each other daily.
Dora was beyond generous when it came to her family, giving her kids and grandchildren “a little $20” here and there even if they tried to refuse it. She also made sure no one left her house hungry. She’d ask 2 or 3 times if she could make you something to eat and always made enough to feed an army! Dora was a quick wit and loved to joke. She had a knack for seeking out laughter in every situation. Her husband Ben was the love of her life, and she always made sure he was taken care of. Spending time together with him was very important to her. They had a weekly date night of going to dinner and a movie, and sometimes trips to Denver, no kids/grandkids allowed. That time was just for them and them alone. Dora’s legacy of love and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.
