Floyd Truman Baker
November 24, 1914 – September 28, 2011
Floyd T. Baker, formerly of Pueblo, passed away on Sept. 28, 2011, in Aurora, CO. Mr. Baker was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Loveland, CO and moved to Pueblo at the age of four where he resided until 2008. He was a graduate of Colorado State University where he was a member of the college ROTC and Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.
Mr. Baker was employed as a chemist at the CF&I for over 41 years and was past president of the AFL-CIO Clerical and Technical Union, Local 3267. He served as treasurer and member of the board of directors of CF&I Power Credit Union for 39 years. He was a graduate of the Credit Union National Association School for Credit Union Executives and served as President of Pueblo Area Chapter of Credit Unions. In addition he was a founding board member of the Sangre de Cristo Mental Health Center, served on the boards of United Way, Family Services and the Colorado Credit Union League.
He belonged to the Silver State Masonic Lodge #95 for over 65 years and was granted the distinction of Honorary Past Grand Master in 2004. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Bodies as well as the Al Kaly Shrine and the Elks Club.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Baker, and is survived by his son, Gerald, of Aurora, CO; daughter, Cindy (Steve) Robl of Denver; grandchildren, Chris Robl of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Stephanie Robl (Stephen Wenzel) and great-granddaughters Olivia and Isabella Wenzel of Franklin, MA, sister Juanita Price and niece Marcella Price of Astoria, OR and niece Penelope Mathison of Elletsville, IN.
A memorial service will be held at the George McCarthy Historic Chapel on Oct. 7th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Denver Hospice in care of the funeral home.
