Gay Arden (Rapier) Singleton was born to Clarence and Elsie Rapier on January 25, 1933, in Canon City, Colorado. This is where, at the age of 16, she met Robert "Bob" Singleton, to whom she was married to in 1949. From their marriage came 6 sons, 14 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Gay met and accepted Jesus Christ at a very young age and was filled with the Holy Spirit of love soon after. She reared her sons in the teachings of Christ, and for a time took in two of their cousins also, as well as her sons' friends from time to time, as though they were her own sons. As her boys grew and married, she gained daughters whom she helped to teach the home arts, recipes, loving littles, and ministering the love of God to others.
Bob and Gay built a home with a dog kennel business in Pueblo, in the late 1970's, which they ran for a few years before selling and moving to Pueblo West. They built 2 more homes where they continued to enjoy their growing family. Suddenly on the morning of January 1st, 1999, Robert passed away. For her next 26 years on earth, she continued to instruct and encourage her family in the light and love of Jesus Christ.
Church ministry was dear to Gay, and she served in various capacities for those she attended. Notable was a women's prayer ministry for Soaring Eagles Christian Center where many blessed with her work. Her last 2 1/2 years were spent at Capella of Pueblo West, a loving, Christian Assisted Living community where she continued spreading the good news of God's great love and praying for everyone she met.
She never lost her fervor for God's love. Her days at Capella were spent praying for others, teaching of His Grace and countless hours of Bible Study and writing. She was quite proud of two literacy projects which she produced in just recent months. The first of which, "Jesus, the Suffering Savior", gained notable attention throughout the Capella Community and beyond. Her newest work (completed in the last few days of her life) is simple titled, "The Power of Forgiveness", is ready for immediate release. Copies may obtained from Capella or from the family.
Gay Singleton was a treasure to this family, community, and world. She will be widely and deeply missed.
