

Genevieve Elizondo, age 96, peacefully went to be with the Lord, on July 24, 2026. Born on January 24, 1930 in Boone, CO. Genevieve lived a long life marked by strength and devotion to God and those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and lasting impact she made on her family and friends.
Genevieve’s legacy of love and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She now reunites in heaven with her beloved, husband John of 67 years, her infant son, Thomas John, and cherished grandson Darien Elizondo.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy & Terry Stice, Terry Strachan, Chuck & Irma Elizondo. Her beloved grandchildren, Sheila & Tyler Larson, Lisa & Aaron Hilt, Rylan Strachan, Charleigh Elizondo, Chad Elizondo & Tiffany Krecklow, Alex Romero. Survived by in-laws Virginia Sena & Sel Elizondo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death, parents Fred & Lula Mehan, in-laws, Jesus & Roberta Elizondo. Siblings, Lou (Felix) Chavez, Edna Sanchez, Joe Mehan, Martha (Frank) Gonzalez, Josephine (Al) Sandoval, Hope (Leo) Diaz, Manuel Mehan and deceased in-laws, Aurora Alvarez, Tony& Mary Elizondo, Memo & Esther Elizondo, Vivian Elizondo as well as numerous relatives.
Genevieve worked most of her life from the age of 14 to help her family with medical finances during hard times. At this young age she began her career in dry-cleaning as a presser and eventually a silk finisher. She worked for Dundee, Stein and Stoehr dry cleaning businesses until her retirement. She met the love of her life John, and married in 1950. She raised her three children with love and discernment. She was a member of over 60 years at Holy Family Parish.
She enjoyed all things family. Gen enjoyed dancing, music, fishing, family pinon nut trips, bowling, traveling, cooking, family gatherings, church festivals, the Eagles Aerie 145, Cripple Creek and of course her home.
She was a generous mother and grandmother, and will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2827 Lakeview Ave., Pueblo CO.
