

George Lee Hathaway affectionately known as Grampy, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2013 at the age of 91. He was a resident of Pueblo, Colorado. He was born on July 7, 1922 in Saguache, Colorado to George and Verda Hathaway. He was a Central High School graduate and married Wilma J. Wells on March 18, 1940. After the loss of his wife of 46 years he later married Mary Alice Heschong on October 24, 1986. He worked as a brick layer at the CF&I for 40 years, retired, and then went to work for Rainbo Bakery for 10 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Elk’s and Eagle’s He loved to fish and hunt ducks and this passion is how he acquired his nickname, “Duck.” He is survived by his wife, Alice Hathaway; daughters, Beverly (Robert) Whittemore and Shonnie (John) Long; stepchildren, Jim (Becky) Deatherage, David (Dee) Deatherage, and Debbie (Troy) Harris; grandchildren, Todd (Susan) Whittemore, Tammy Chirila, Thad (Victoria) Whittemore, Brent (Susann) Long, Darren (Gina) Long, Kevin (Stephanie) Long and Judy Long and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; George and Verda Hathaway; late wife, Wilma J. Hathaway and brother, Kenneth Hathaway. The family will celebrate his life in a private graveside service.
