Henry Bert Martinez, 81, passed away on Nov. 26, 2022, in Pueblo. He was the husband of JoAnn Martinez. Born in San Luis, Colo., he was the son of Pedro and Annie (Espinoza) Martinez. He graduated from San Luis High School.
Henry served in the United States Marine Corps, and served two tours in Vietnam. After the military, he worked at the CF&I Steel Mill as a crane operator for 30 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Avondale, and enjoyed wood crafts and playing the lottery. He will be remembered for helping others, and being one of the “over the hill gang.”
Henry is survived by his children, Paul (Renee) Martinez, Henry (Cyndi) Martinez and Pam (Ben) Jacquez; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria (Gabe) Mares, Irene (Joe) Martinez, Ruth (Joe) Tafoya, Amadeo “Marty” Martinez and Gabriel (Tom) Martinez Lorella Martinez and Ron Codina.
He was preceded in death by Annie and Pedro Martinez, Betty Bayejos, Leo Martinez, Sally Martinez, Alfonso “Pancho” Martinez, Johnny Pete Martinez, Brenda Codina, Daniel Trujillo and Brandon Martinez.
A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, with funeral to follow at 11 a.m., at TG McCarthy Funeral Home. Henry will be laid to rest at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
