Irene Mismash, 95, passed away quietly on February 14, 2019. Irene was born on April 17, 1923 in Duquesne, PA to Mary and Mike Buku. The family lived in Farr and Cameron, CO, coal mining camps near Walsenburg. Irene graduated from Huerfano County High School in 1940. Irene worked in Washington, D.C during WWII, and later at the Pueblo Ordinance Depot. She married Albert Mismash on December 8, 1946. They resided in Pueblo, except for Albert’s 5 year assignment in Germany 1972-1977. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lt. Mike Buku; sisters, Elizabeth Patterson, Mary Oakleaf, and Sophie Mulkey; and by her husband in 2011. Survived by children, Michael (Susan) Mismash, Jeanne (Bruce)Kopasz, and Albert Mismash, Jr.; grandchildren, Lindsey (Ben) Cutter and Craig (Myra) Kopasz and Camerron Mismash; great grandchildren, Stokes, Kendall, Van, Sully, Jackson and James. Irene enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with family; bowling, polka dancing and many hobbies and activities including entering (and winning) contests. The family would like to thank her friends and neighbors for providing companionship, and the staff at Dr. Thomas Gaide’s office, Pueblo Regent, Columbine Chateau and Minnequa Medicenter and Frontier Hospice for safe and comfortable homes and care in her last years.
