it simply means the river bends." ~Enoch Powell
James Guy Croll met the bend in the river on September 3rd, 2014 after several years of declining health. Jim was born June 18, 1928, of parents Martha Scribner Croll and William K. Croll. He is survived by his children; Tracy (John) Singletary, Broc Croll, Kim Croll, Melora Gaber, Hunter (Karrie) Croll and Katherine Ward; his girlfriend Catherine "Daisy" Robinson, his brother Bill (Phyllis) Croll and his first wife, Val Croll Tursi. His second wife, Mary Ellen Brown Croll is deceased.
Jim knew many as extended family. These include caregivers, doctors, providers and friends. He was grateful and humbled by the kindness, love and care they shared.
He found particular kinship with the Navajo people in New Mexico and the Yup’ik in Alaska. He was known to many as "Bruin". His symbol was the bear claw, which was prevalent in his jewelry, and stationary.
Jim brought great enthusiasm to every endeavor. He was station manager at KOAA-TV, Pueblo, CO and in Bethel, AK, a broadcaster in Bermuda and Gallup, NM and he owned a pizza parlor in Coeur d’Alene, prior to retirement.
Many were drawn to his outpouring of creative ideas and unconventional approach to life. He engaged people in his projects and through his writing often assigned nicknames and stories to people and places.
He lived life with dramatic flair, a degree of grace, style and dignity. He celebrated beauty, was an avid mountain man and a hopeless romantic. He loved to surprise by randomly sending flowers.
You may wish to surprise a special one with flowers or donate to charity of choice.
Services will be at the Church of Ascension, 420 W. 18th St., Friday, September 12, 2014, 10:30 AM. Family contact: 729 Sun Mesa, Pueblo, CO 81006. Online condolences, www.adrian-comer.com
