"Pops" was my assistant baseball coach for the 2 years I coached and taught at Centennial 91984-85). I was the luckiest coach in the world to have inherited him for those years. Nobody ever worked harder, or cared more for the student-athletes than Jim did. He made me a better coach, and a better man, and he will be greatly missed! I can hear Coach Grieve up in heaven now telling the team they are playing like "Ned the 3rd-Reader!" Thanks to the family for a great service, and for allowing us to share him for so many years!

I have always remembered Coach Grieves influence as having positive impact on my sports life as well as life in general. He always attended our Reunions with a smile, and looked some much younger in years. Celebrate his life.

Coach was a very special person. I'm glad to have known him while I was at Centennial. He would take us to school in the weight room. And he would sometimes be a substitute for a class. He would make the class fun. I learned alot from Coach Grieve. Now he's Coaching up in Heaven. He will be missed but he will always be in our hearts. Rest In Peace Coach James Grieve.

Dear Donna, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It was always a pleasure to see you and Jim on occasion after my shifts at the Burl Tree. I always admired the love and respect you had for one another. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Coach's Family,
From all of us who played tennis with him at the Dawn Patrol, we will all miss him. He always kept everybody in line--just like a coach. He was always such a pleasure to be around. We lost our leader at the Dawn Patrol but we will always remember him fondly.

To the Family of Jim Grieve; Jim and my dad Chuck Hitchcock played football at Western State College together. We followed Jim's career as a coach beginning with Gunnison. When I entered high school coaching, one of my role models was coach Grieve.  We crossed paths at coaches clinics, meetings and games. Dear Donna and family: TR's kids and grand-kids all send our condolences at this sad time in your lives. We loved Jim and knew him to be a kind and sweet gentleman who was always interested in all of us, and I wish I could have seen him coaching those kids; I'll bet he has thousands of people whose lives were better because of his interaction with them We are sorry we can't be there for the memorial, and we will write soon--love and sympaties to all.
