

Jean V. Vandiver-Belding, 93, passed away August 13, 2015, at Sharmar Assisted Living. She was born in Anderson, SC., on July 28, 1922, to Thomas M. and Mary M. Vandiver. She was raised and educated in Anderson, SC. She graduated from Nurse’s Training in South Carolina as a Registered Nurse, joined the Army as a 2nd Lt. Nurse, where she met and married Edwin E. Belding in 1944. Following the war they moved to Mitchell, Nebr., where she continued her career at the Scottsbluff Hospital. In 1956 she moved to Pueblo, CO, worked at St. Mary Corwin Hospital and later at CF&I Steel Emergency Clinic, retiring after about 19 years. They built a home in Monument, CO and later moved to Pueblo West. Jean came from a large family of 10 girls and 1 boy: Elma, Ruth, Mary, Lois, Sara, Lena, Mel, Hilda, Frances and “Bill”. Only Hilda McCurley survives. She was also preceded in death by husband, Edwin E. Belding, and daughter, Marilyn Altenbach. Jean is survived by one son, William (Robbin) Belding; grandchildren, Scott Altenbach, Michael Belding, Michele Cosby, Tracy Curtis; great-grandchildren, Scott, Eliza and Mariah, many friends and a large extended family. Thanks to all her caregivers and the staff of Chateau at Sharmar Assisted Living. Charitable Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers and food.
