
Joe Waples Sr, 90, passed away September 29, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Dorothy Elizabeth Waples; daughter Judy Richardson; son Joe Waples Jr., and brothers Audrey, Edron and Quentin Waples. Joe is survived by his daughters Penny Yarberry & Becky Bartmess; son-in-laws Bill Yarberry and Jim Bartmess. grandchildren, Scott Yarberry, Danielle & Jerry Wassell, Jeff & Lachelle Sawvell, Dean Richardson, Ron & Vickie Richardson, Gary & Kim DiTomaso, Jason Waples, Katie and Todd Moberly; great-grandchildren, Matthew Wassell, Joe Wassell, Madison Sawvell, Mackenzie Sawvell, Andrew Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Kristi Richardson, Kayla and Chris Thompson, Kasey DiTomaso; great-great grandchildren; Connor Moberly, Camryn Moberly and Christian Richardson; sister Inez Detwiler; sister-in-law Naida Waples and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Cecil & Martha Ingold. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Joe began his career with the Federal Land bank of Wichita in March of 1940 as a file clerk, moving up the ranks to president of the Pueblo office in 1948. He served as a member of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Assn, the Jr. Livestock Sale Committee, the Colorado Farm Bureau, Colorado Grange, BPOE # 90, Colorado Water Congress and on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce. The members of his Board of Director became close friends to Joe, his wife and children. Joe was a father and grandfather who could be counted on for anything his family needed. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Viewing will be held Monday 4-7pm with funeral service Tuesday 10:00am both at Imperial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Sangre de Cristo Hospice. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Chateau at Sharmar, Dr. Cheryl Cavalli and all those family and friends who assisted in the care of our father.
