John Alfred Maroney

John (Jack) Maroney born February 25, 1933 was called home to the Lord on October 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Lena, his wife of 54 years; daughters, Gina (Dion) Hazen, Jacki (Tracy) Sammons; seven beautiful granddaughters, Leanne, Brooke, Annmarie, Lauren, Brianna, Lindsay and Logan; brother, Dan (Bev) Maroney, several nieces, nephews, niece/caregiver, Mary, and many good friends that enjoyed his life journey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Wilma; his son, Johnny and brother, Sam. Jack worked for the telephone company for 43 years, started at Mountain Bell and retired from US West. He was a member of Communications Workers of America 8402 and 7702 for 43 years where he held the following offices; Chief Job Steward, Vice President and President of Local 8402. He was involved in politics with CWA making yearly trips to Washington DC to meet politicians to discuss laws they were trying to pass and was very passionate about many organizations such as United Way, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and the American Heart Association. Rosary will be, 6:00 pm, Friday, October 24 at George McCarthy Historic Chapel. Funeral Mass, 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 25 at the Shrine of St. Therese. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery next to his beloved son
