John Dewitt Parsons was born March 6, 1949, in Navasota, Texas, and entered Heaven’s gates on January 3rd, 2025. John leaves behind a loving wife of 36 years Michelle, son John M. (Mariah), daughter Lauren (Ben), many brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends from all walks of life. He now joins his father (O.D.), mother (Imogene), and sister (Dora) in Heaven. John was a loving husband, father, mentor, and friend to many. His focus day in and day out, was seeing his family happy and providing for them at all costs. It was important to John as a second-generation glazier to continue his practice of the trade, transforming his skill into a small business. Glass On Time started 23 years agon after incorporating his combined experience with Harding Glass and Binswanger Glass to build his own legacy. He ran his business nearly everyday from dawn until dusk, and after long hours passed, until his retirement at 73, passing the torch to his son, a third-generation glazier, in 2022. Glass On Time continues to be a pillar in the community that he built from the ground-up working out his home garage, to opening a brick -and-mortar location that employed other fellow glazier and teaching others the value of the trade.; truly giving meaning to teaching people “how to fish” rather than handing out fish. He was an example of a strong Christian man with a moral compass. John was a first-degree black belt in Taekwondo and was a valued member in the Taekwondo community for passing his knowledge and wisdom onto countless individuals over the years who went to him for guidance in and outside of classes. Not only was he a mentor while wearing his Taekwondo uniform, as a Vietnam Air Force Veteran, John knew what it was to be dedicated to something, to work for it, and see it through. This was something he imparted onto his family, employees, friends, and loved ones daily. John loved rides on his Harley Davidson, morning coffee from his John Wayne mug, Western movies, and the Blues. He had a sense of humor that would always lift the room he was in, and a smile that would brighten up the night if could catch it. His last days were full of live, surrounded by his family who were there with him until the end of his time here on Earth. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10am at Imperial Funeral Home. Donations may be made to John’s established GoFundMe.
