Remembering Johnny on the 60th anniversary of his birth.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss, Nancy...and we want to send our sympathy to you, Wes and Denise.  Although I didn't know Johnny well, I know he was a good man and well respected at his work, in the community and very loved by his family.  I have so enjoyed knowing you and your family (through my days in the Fowler School District) and my heart aches for all of you.  May you feel the comfort, love and peace that only God can give in such a time of great loss.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

So many of us were blessed to have known Johnny. Whenever I would see him at Irving, I would think "YES, he has come to our rescue." He always took the time to come and check to make sure everything was okay with my computer even though his time was limited. His presence, smile and caring attitude will be greatly missed.

Johnny was a very special man, always willing to help, very hard working and always  had a great sense of humor to go along with it.  We will miss him very much, in fact I can hardly imagine not seeing his smile.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  Take care.

John was one the smartest computer tech,s. I've worked with. He would just chuckle when I would complement his knowledge or suggest he would be an asset to the Network Team (Dist.#60),saying he would rather work in the field. I remember working beside John in the field, he really could not say no to anyone, and would rewire an office because a teacher wanted to sit on the oppisite side of the room. He was a hard worker, considerate, funny and all around good guy. It is truly sad to lose such a wonderful friend.

Chato!  That's what we called Johnny.  He lived with my grandma for many years during his school years and next door to us on buck eye hill. He taught my brother and I how to play basketball and football.  He was good at sports and a good hunter.  My fondest memories come from when we used to go hunting down the hills (we used to call it).  The 5 of us would go and spend all day Sunday hunting and just having fun doing whatever at the river.  My brother Pete, my uncle "Fire", Johnny, my brother "Izzy" and myself would go and John would call us the banditos! lol  We would make our own sling shots and go shoot birds although I can't ever remember any of us hitting any but it was fun.  Now only two of us remain of Chato's banditos!! My uncle and myself.  How sad all things change but the memories will remain forever until we all see each other again.  I'll miss you Johnny.....I remember the turkey hunting on lock mountain and one day the banditos will all be hunting in the sunlight again!

I worked with Johnny for several years.  He was always so kind and caring.  When I first became an ITRT at my school, he was so patient and showed me many ways to do my job.  He always answered my calls and was never short with my dumb questions.  This year Johnny was especially patient and kind even though he was being pulled in a million different directions.  He was "all about the kids".  I will miss him greatly, but know that he abides in heaven on the right side of God.  May God bless all of his family and remember that you too will see him again.  My prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your loss.  More than the calm help he gave when all in the building were panicking, I will always remember John's smile. When he walked into the school I knew my computer problems were over and I also enjoyed visiting with him while he worked.  He was a down to earth person who you met once and felt like you have known all your like.  I will miss you so much Johnny.  I was truly blessed getting to know you. You have our deepest condolences, Nancy, Wesley, Denise, & Family.  We were shocked to find out that John had passed.  I, personally, will remember John as quite a prankster.  When anything happened in our shop in Steel Production, there would be an immediate cartoon depicting the event from John.  We all came to look forward to these cartoons.  They were that good!!!  I remember one time he helped me with an air 2 inch air line and something went wrong.  It was not his job, but he stayed till we got it fixed; although he swore he'd never help me again.  He also was the one that got me inspired to buy a computer and get on the internet.  Always a smile and good humor.  I always missed him after he found work with Distrist 60 and never came back to the mill after the strike.  I think to this day there are cartoons he drew on walls still depicting an event.  May you rest in peace, John.  I know that I am a better person just to have known you.  Sadly missed by John & Martha Connor

Johnny will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched throughout District 60. I am a Business teacher at Centennial, and he was always so generous with his time when he came to help me with computer problems. I know I was touched by his willingness to always help no matter how busy he was. My thoughts and prayers are with his family throughout your time of grief.

I did not know Johnnie very well, but when I saw him at Heritage Elementary where I work at, he always had a smile and a kind word for all the staff.  When anyone needed him he was always so helpful.  He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him at all.

Since I learned of Johnny’s passing, I find myself thinking of the Mendez family and how much we will all miss him. Nancy I saw you and John a few weeks ago at the store and we talked for a while.  I always enjoyed chatting with you both.  I knew John and Pam when they'd come to work on the computers at my school before I retired.  I got to see John again when I was a sub at Highland.  He also knew my husband and always asked about him.  He was such a kind and caring man.  I saw John a few days before the Christmas break and again always asking how my family was doing.  We send our condolences to you and your family Nancy.  John will be greatly missed.

John Mendez was a true gentleman and the epitomy of class. He did indeed make everyone feel important. I never saw him without a smile and no matter how busy he was, he always had a minute or two to visit when he came to Risley. Favorite topic: Hudson Fox! I am honored to have known such a  person.

This world has lost a terrific man, our Johnny Mendez.  His humor was contagious, and we loved having Johnny visit our school. Nancy and family, thinking of you and yours during this difficult time. Jonny, will be greatly missed be everyone at Heaton. He became a part of our family and developed many close relationships. He was a great friend of mine.

Johnny was a man that always put others first and made every individual feel important.  This guy would go above and beyond to help everyone every time.  Even though he had a weeks work to do in a day he would never rush off without making sure he had done everything he possible could to fix it all.  He always took time to teach others and made you feel important enough to be taught.  I can't begin to tell you the many things that he has taught me, and many of those things go far beyond the tech world.  He always spoke so highly of his family and lived life as an example for all of us.  Thank you Johnny.

We may be separated by miles during this time, but our love and prayers are with you always.  We will miss Johnny so much, but are grateful for the memories he left with us.  We still have several of his unique painted Easter eggs he made for Gabe & Mireya along with memories that will always bring a smile to our faces.  It is clear why he loved each of you so much.
