Joseph Lawrence Gonzales of Pueblo, CO passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on May 20, 1949, to Manuel & Fannie (Montoya) Gonzales Sr. and was his mother’s lifetime companion until her passing in 2006.
Joseph graduated from Pueblo South High in 1970 and worked at Pueblo Diversified Industry for 35 years. He was actively involved as a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and St. Mary Help of Christians Church. He enjoyed poker games and gambling at Bingo and the casinos in Vegas, Cripple Creek and New Mexico. Joseph also enjoyed attending the Colorado State Fair, concerts, fishing and camping, along with cheering on the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. Occasionally, you could catch Joseph attending the day programs at the Pueblo Community Resources or Colorado Bluesky, probably listening to his “oldies” music.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents Manuel & Fannie Gonzales Sr.; siblings Anne Butler, Mary Villanueva, Josephine Gutierrez, Eugene Gonzales and John Gonzales; brothers-in-law Dave Butler, Edward Villanueva Sr., Gilbert Gutierrez and John Thompson.
Joseph is survived by his siblings Manuel (Mary Ann) Gonzales Jr., Frances Brown, Rena (Richard) Jimenez and Julia Thompson; brother-in-law Gary Buxman and sister-in-law Josie Gonzales; godson Dan Gonzales and numerous nieces and nephews.
