Joseph Lorenzo Sandoval went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2023, the day after his 92nd birthday. He was born in Avondale, Colorado on October 22, 1931, and was the eldest of nine (9) children of Paul and Pauline Sandoval.
He worked at the CF&I in Pueblo, Colorado as a grader blade and forklift operator from August 10, 1950, to January 31, 1984. He served his country in the United States Navy from August 21, 1951, during the Korean War on the USS John A Bole (DD-755) with an Honorable Discharge on August 1, 1955.
Joseph and Inez lived on the Mesa in Pueblo for 46 years in a home that Joseph built before moving to Wichita, Kansas in 2022 to be closer to family. Joseph was able to fix anything, and He enjoyed going to auctions and never came home empty handed. He and Inez enjoyed bowling in a league during their earlier years. Joseph’s hobbies were raising hogs and goats. Joseph was known for having a sweet tooth and enjoyed his morning cookies and cup of coffee each day.
Joseph is survived by his wife Inez (Codina) and three children - Keith Sandoval and wife Laura of Wichita, Kansas; Bryan Sandoval and wife Cilatli of Las Vegas, New Mexico; and Diana Hamilton and husband Ben of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is also survived by his siblings Erma Sandoval (husband John - deceased), Rosie (Sandoval) Torrez and husband Macario, Alice (Sandoval) Oliva , Paul Sandoval and wife Margaret, and half-brothers Henry Alire, Fred (Freddy) Alire , Abel Alire, and half-sister Viola Alire, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father Paul Sandoval and mother Pauline (Gonzales, Sandoval) Alire, brothers Charlie Sandoval, Fred Sandoval, Le Roy Sandoval, and Donald Blackwood.
His grandchildren are: Joseph Sandoval and wife Whitney and children Penelope Sandoval, Oliver Sandoval, Lincoln Sandoval of Wichita, Kansas; Nikol Brucks (Sandoval) and husband Jacob and son Ira of Lawrence, Kansas; Miranda Sandoval of Pueblo, Colorado; Cody Sandoval of Pueblo, Colorado; Brennah Sandoval and children Nijah Jimenez and Marianna Figueroa of Pueblo, Colorado; Crucifecio Taylor-Sandoval of Las Vegas, New Mexico; Tonantzin Taylor-Sandoval of Las Vegas, New Mexico; Lisa Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada and children Matthew Morrison of Los Angeles, California; Thomas Morrison of Oregon; and Jessica Morrison and great-great-grandson Ryder of Gilbert, Arizona; Nathan O’ Brien and daughter Payten Sayre of Carson City, Nevada; Joseph O’ Brien and wife Heather and children Quinn and Layla of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Owen O’ Brien and wife Danielle and children Brooklynn, Colten, Trenten, and Caleb of Las Vegas, Nevada.
