Juanita Marie Santistevan

Preceded in death by her parents, Patrocinio and Anastasita Vialpando and husband, George Santistevan, sister, Toni (Julian) Vasquez, and brothers, Joe Vialpando and Alfred (Inez) Lujan.

Survived by her daughters Loretta Pearson (Michael Geonetta), Georgia (Gary) Zamarripa, Cecilia (Andre) Simon and Beverly Rubey, who she loved as a daughter. Grandchildren: Gary (Tracy) Zamarripa, Joe Zamarripa (Wendy Pettit), David Santistevan (Teigh Camacho), Richard Pearson, Christine Pearson (Nick Pollotto) and Martin Santistevan. Great-grandchildren: Wyatt Pearson, Britany Zamarripa, Jake Zamarripa, Brooke Zamarripa, Angelo (Manda) Trujillo, Shanoa Santistevan, (Miguel Huerto) and Elizabeth Santistevan. Great, Great-grandchildren: Nayeli Maes, Davian Santistevan and Leila Santistevan. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Born near Trinidad, Co and moved to Pueblo, Co in 1949 after her marriage. She retired from Prudential Insurance after 27 years. Devout Catholic all her life and was presented with a special Papal blessing at her 100th birthday mass. She graduated during the Great Depression and recently recounted that as being a monumental thing at her graduation. She had a great love of music and Juanita sang in local church choirs, The Mariachi De Pueblo and The Pueblo Symphony. Avid Denver Bronco fan and was the oldest member of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team C & G. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and celebrity ciphers. She said she owed her long life to eating healthy and living in a time where there wasn’t as much stress and craziness going on. She was loving, giving and totally unselfish. She was truly an amazing woman and What a Lady!

Viewing Monday, August 10, 2020 at St. Leander’s Catholic Church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with private funeral service to follow. The public can attend the gravesite service at Imperial Memorial Gardens following the 11 o’clock Mass.
