Katherine Edna Bacino

Kathy graduated from Springfield High School and went on to King Business College and Southern CO State College. She worked at Colorado State Hospital, working her way from food service to Administrative Clerk Typist for 22 years, and enjoyed skiing and crafting. Kathy had a second vibrant career, born of unfair labor practices. She got involved in the AFSCME union towards the end of her years at the State Hospital. She was a Union Representative and Director for another 20 years. Her titles and her accomplishments are impressive. She was passionately engaged in the Democratic Party and led many caucuses, was a regional and national delegate. She also worked on numerous campaigns giving time and money freely.

As rewarding as her jobs and political work were, she gave to the Pueblo community in many ways, serving as Board member and Director numerous times for numerous organizations including the I Will Projects, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting sustainable living practices through education. In 2022 the Roselawn 1891 Foundation designated Kathy as an Emeritus Board Member for her service as a founding member. She was instrumental in organizing the Traveling Vietnam Wall in 2016 and authored stories published in The Hearts & Souls of Roselawn. The most passionate work she did was with Sacred Heart Cathedral. After visiting The Vatican and working with numerous incredible Sisters, she converted to Catholicism. Her work was tireless. She proclaimed the Word of God as a long-serving Lector and Chairperson of the Lector Committee, participated in the Environmental Committee, and joyously participated in a women’s book club.

Kathy is survived by Patty Halligan, Muriel Ann Davis, Mable G. Reineke (Ross), E. Allan Davis (Robin), Linda L. Davis, and Georganna R. Morlan (Pete), Jim Bacino, and the Gevorkian Family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Frances A. Davis; her siblings, George Davis Jr., Keith Davis, Mark Davis, Mary Davis, Mike Davis, Carla Clerkin; and her husband, Tony Bacino.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 13th, 2026 at 9:45 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 11th & Grand. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pueblo Cooperative Care Center, “a community faith-based organization with a mission to prevent hunger and improve the quality of life to citizens residing in Pueblo County”.
