

Kenneth Jerome “Red Horse” Mehalovitz, 79, born July 14, 1934 to the union of Sam J. and Mary Mehalovitz in Pueblo and the Angels came and took him away to Heaven on May 10, 2014. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Walter, Archie, Sam and Clarence; sisters, Cecilia and Theresa; former wife, Lou Starke and in-laws, Felix and Carrie Casias. Survived by wife, Erma; daughters, Terry Steir, Eileen Long, Michele (Dennis) Liptak, Carrie (Anthony) Trujillo, Phyllis (John) Sanchez, Pat Barber, Cindy (David) Sufian, Angie Lujan, Emmy (Ivan) Sufian; grandchildren, Dustin (Kim) Smith, Austin Steir, Michelle Long, Denny (Bri), Sherry, and Brandy Liptak , Jessica (Tim) Weckx, Sarah Trujillo, Andrea Sanchez, Matthew Valdez, Brandon and Joseph Barber, Samantha and Kimberly Sufian, Alex, Sonia, and Cassie Lujan, Stephanie and Danielle Sufian; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jerec and Lumiya Smith, Elise Liptak, Madison Fillmore, Brooklyn Weckx, Talon and Tyler Gomez; and special nephew, Ronnie (Gaylene) Mehalovitz. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ken started working at the Santa Fe Railroad when he was 16 years old and retired after 46 ½ years. He earned his Associate of Applied Science from Pueblo Junior college and served in the US Army for 4 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge #19. Ken loved to fish the Arkansas with his brother Clarence. He had a green thumb and could grow anything. He was also an avid Rockies and Seattle Seahawks fan. Ken will be missed by all and was a family man who loved his family dearly. At his request no viewing. Funeral Service 11 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Imperial Funeral Home.
